Candida and Yeast

What do you know about Candida and yeast and how it affects your body? It’s important to know that Candida is a type of yeast that occurs naturally in the body in small amounts. Sometimes when conditions cause an overproduction of this yeast in the body, people can become ill or have unwanted side effects. Because these side effects are similar to those of other conditions, the true cause is often mistaken.

You may have heard people say that a woman who eats a daily dose of yogurt can prevent a yeast infection. This is because the type of yeast found in the yogurt helps counterbalance the Candia found in the vaginal areas and prevents and overgrowth which causes the yeast infection. This type of infection of yeast is different from a chronic problem with Candida.

Sometimes newborn babies get thrush which is a type of Candida overgrowth that comes from leftover yeast from the mother. This infection is easily treatable and babies recover fine. Sometimes females with an overgrowth of Candida will get yeast infections in the vaginal area. This is also treatable and usually goes away right away with medication. There are some cases where other people have chronic problems with Candida and yeast.

Some people experience a problem with yeast overgrowth because their immune systems are weak. This could be due to illness, disease or some other health condition. When the body has a weakened immune system it can cause the yeast to grow more rapidly in the body and unwanted side effects can occur.

There are some people that have an overgrowth of Candida and yeast that do not have a compromised immune system. This sometimes happens because of the person’s diet. Sugar can increase the growth of yeast so diets high in sugar can lead to this problem. Limiting the amount of yeast, sugar and carbohydrates in your diet can help prevent overgrowth of yeast.

When you learn about how yeast reacts in your body and how the foods you eat can affect it, you will known more about how to prevent unhealthy overgrowths that can cause complications for you. If you have a chronic problem with Candida, your doctor will be able to help you create a treatment plan that lasts so you control the growth and feel healthier.
